Privacy Policy for GrowLegend

This Privacy Policy explains how the GrowLegend mobile application (“GrowLegend”, “the app”, “we”, “us”) handles information. GrowLegend is developed and operated by Douglas Davis (“the developer”).
GrowLegend is an educational and personal record-keeping (“journal”) app for plant growers. It is intended for adults 18 years and older.
Summary
GrowLegend does not collect, transmit, or share your personal information. Everything you enter — your strains, plants, journal entries, photos, breeding projects, tasks, and settings — is stored only on your device. We have no servers and we cannot see your data.
Information We Collect
We do not collect any personal information. GrowLegend has no user accounts, no login, and no analytics or advertising tracking.
All content you create in the app is stored locally on your device, including:
- Strain library entries and any custom strains you add
- Your tracked plants, growth stages, feeding and watering logs
- Journal entries and photos you take or select
- Breeding projects and phenotype notes
- Tasks and app settings (such as dark mode)
This information never leaves your device unless you choose to share it yourself (for example, by exporting or sending a photo using another app).
Photos
When you add a photo to a journal entry, the app copies that image into its own private storage on your device so it can be displayed alongside your notes. Photos are not uploaded anywhere. The app uses your device’s standard photo picker or camera; you can decline these at any time.
Network Use
GrowLegend uses an internet connection only to: (1) process subscriptions through Google Play Billing, and (2) display these legal documents within the app. The app does not transmit your journal content, photos, or any personal data over the internet.
Subscriptions and Payments
Optional premium features are offered through Google Play Billing. All payments are processed by Google, not by us. We never receive or store your payment card details or billing information. Google’s handling of your payment data is governed by the Google Privacy Policy and Google Play’s terms.
Permissions
- Internet — used for Google Play Billing and to show these legal documents.
- Camera / Photos — only used, with your consent through the system picker, when you choose to attach a photo to a journal entry. Selected photos remain on your device.
Children
GrowLegend is intended only for users 18 years of age or older and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.
Data Retention and Deletion
Because your data is stored only on your device, you are in full control of it. You can delete individual entries within the app, and uninstalling GrowLegend permanently removes all of its data from your device.
Your Rights (POPIA)
As the developer is based in South Africa, we aim to comply with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA). Since GrowLegend does not collect or process your personal information on our side, there is no personal data held by us to access, correct, or delete. Any data exists solely on your own device under your control. If you have questions about your rights, contact us using the details below.
Third-Party Services
GrowLegend integrates only with Google Play Billing for optional subscriptions. We do not use third-party advertising or analytics services.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date above. Continued use of the app after changes indicates acceptance of the revised policy.
